June 26, 2007, 08:28

Its freezing ,only 8 degrees today .what is going on ? what do the dolphins make of it. wish i could see one. The watch at Burghead was amazing 5 hardy folk saw nothing. but when i say saw nothing that.s not true, the light and the clouds were amazing. the coast over by Hopeman at times looked like gold as the rays of sun pinpointed the cliffs. Gannets and Eiders braved the gales (sea state 6)thanks to Alan for information regarding how warm his coat was. Thanks to Ulrike on information regarding how cold her coat was.

Minke whales in the Moray Firth

June 04, 2007, 23:15

We are getting good reports of Minke whales in the Moray Firth. two sightings off Portknockie and one off Banff this last weekend and reports of good sightings from the CRRU further east at Gardenstown and outward in the firth. take also the two sightings of minke on the east coast off Aberdeen. Maybe the firth and the east coast will be the place for whale watchers to come and see minkes instead of going to Mull and the west coast. If you see a Minke while watching please report it to us and to the Sea watch Foundation. Its coming up to the National Whale and Dolphin Watch week 23-30th of June so the more folk we have out there the better. Full details of all the land and sea based watches can be seen by going to www.seawatchfoundation.org.uk
This weekend we are at Gordonstoun school for the Highland games please come along and support our group and maybe join in in tossing a caber or 2
See ya
Pete
